Shanta Martin is a solicitor in Leigh Day's International and Group Claims Department, working with Richard Meeran on a number of corporate accountability cases.


Shanta has 10 years' experience in cases relating to corporate human rights abuses, having worked in different parts of the world with communities impacted by extractive industry operations, and with workers in the textile and agricultural sectors.

Prior to joining Leigh Day, Shanta was the Head of Amnesty International's Business and Human Rights team at the International Secretariat in London. She was Oxfam Australia's Mining Ombudsman and Extractive Industries Advocacy Coordinator and previously worked for local non-governmental organisations in Latin America. Shanta practised as a commercial litigation solicitor for four years with Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Melbourne, Australia.

She holds a Master of Laws, a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, a Bachelor of Science majoring in Pharmacology and Toxicology, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts.
