James qualified as a doctor in 1996 and practised as a surgeon in the NHS for over six years in a range of surgical specialties, including neurosurgery (and neurosurgical intensive care), renal transplant surgery and liver, gallbladder, pancreas and stomach surgery, but spent most of his time working in trauma & orthopaedics.
He joined Leigh Day in 2006, initially as a paralegal and then subsequently as a trainee and has remained with the firm since qualifying as a solicitor.
James specialises in clinical negligence. He works with partner Claire Fazan and his cases range from maximum severity brain injury cases to those of a less serious nature. He has a particular interest in those cases which involve complex medical or surgical issues. His experience includes cases involving adult and paediatric neurological injury, spinal injuries, obstetrics and gynaecology, trauma & orthopaedics, vascular surgery, cardiology and others. His cases also include those involving fatal injuries arising from negligent medical treatment and inquests.
