Former Leigh Day client named a Tesco 'mum of the year'

Maureen's nephews

15 April 2008

Leigh Day & Co acted for Maureen Nay and her nephews in a successful claim for negligence against the North Middlesex Hospital where her sister died. Maureen has since been named as a Tesco's mum of the year. She was nominated in the best children's category by one of her nephews, Christopher.

Maureen has cared for her three nephews since her sister died some two months after giving birth to her third child. The tragedy of losing their mother was further compounded by the death of their father from meningitis after having been admitted to hospital only two days after Connor's birth.

Christopher, the eldest of the three boys, nominated Maureen. He said 'my auntie took me and my two brothers to live with her - Connor was just eight weeks old, Courtney was six and I was eight. If she hadn't taken us in, we could have gone into care'.

Maureen's story was featured in the Daily Mirror 7.3.08 and the Tesco Magazine March/April 2008.
