Laura Bissell who rides for the UK’s first
International Cycling Union (UCI) Trade Team for a women’s team, Fat Birds UK (‘FBUK’) has successfully concluded her claim for personal injury compensation arising out of a road traffic accident, which occurred in December 2004.
At approximately 8.00 a.m. on 16 December 2004 Laura had been cycling along the A119 North Road, when, as she was established on the roundabout outside the Hertford North Railway Station, a third party motorist suddenly pulled out, directly in front of Laura, causing Laura to be thrown violently from her bicycle on to the road.
As a result Laura sustained a number of painful soft-tissue injuries, to include a cut to her left elbow, bruising to her left leg, right knee, ankle and she also suffered from upper back pain and pain to her ribs. Thankfully, Laura’s injuries did resolve relatively quickly, however Laura was left with a small residual scar to her right elbow as a result of this accident.
Laura was represented by Anna Hart, Assistant to Sue Bence in Leigh Day & Co’s Cycling and Sports Injuries Team.
Laura’s claim was supported and funded by British Cycling. For further information please contact
