Two weeks ago at a meeting with lawyers for
TeGenero (the company responsible for the drug) and their insurers, Martyn Day, senior partner at leigh Day & Co had requested on behalf of his four clients, interim payments. Last week the insurers responded offering only half the amount requested but adding on conditions that would have meant the four could not take their claim through the courts for at least a year.
This issue was dealt with in articles in the Times and Mirror as well as numerous TV and radio stations.
Following negotiations at the end of last week this morning the insurers have decided to pay the full amount without any conditions.
Martyn Day said today: "I am very pleased that we have been able to reach a sensible agreement with the insurance company that will enable our four clients to finance the coming few didfficult months while we try and work out quite how bad is the cloud hanging over their heads following the drug trials."
