claims specialist Olive Lewin
has successfully settled a hospital negligence claim for substantial damages on behalf of the family of a client who was rendered tetraplegic after the failure to diagnose and operate in good time on his ruptured disc in the cervical spine.
There was a seven month gap between our client’s symptoms first appearing and operation, during which time there was gradual deterioration in his condition. Our client eventually lost the use of his limbs, which meant he was immobile, incontinent and required 24 hour care.
Unfortunately because our client became tetraplegic he developed a number of chest infections and eventually died from an overwhelming chest infection. His claim was taken over by his wife on behalf of herself and their children and was settled for an amount which was acceptable to the family.
