Injured time trial cyclist receives compensation

Cycle accident specialist solicitor Philip Hunter has successful settled a number of claims for compensation on behalf of British Cycling members who have funded and supported the cases. 

James Blankley was injured in a road traffic collision on 27 January 2010 as he was cycling along Wakefield Road. As he was cycling along a driver was leaving Beach Wood Avenue, intending to join Wakefield Road.  The driver pulled out into James’ path and had no time to avoid a collision. As a result of the impact James was thrown from his bicycle and sustained personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other losses.

Liability for the incident was admitted by the driver and James received compensation for his personal injury and the damage to his bicycle.

Jo Haley was injured in a road traffic accident on 8 September 2009 as she was cycling along Botley Road.  A driver who was travelling in the opposite direction turned right across her path giving her no time to avoid a collision.  She was thrown from her bicycle and suffered injuries, damage to her bike and other losses.  The driver admitted liability and she received compensation for her injuries and damage to her bike.
 

Cyclist injured before time trial

British Cycling member Lynden Leadbeater has successfully recovered damages after being injured in a road traffic collision on 26 April 2009 as he was cycling along the B1043, Alconbury.

Lynden was preparing for a road time trial that was taking place in the area that morning. As he cycled along the driver behind him drove into his bicycle throwing him from his bike, injuring him and his bike.  The driver admitted liability and Lynden received compensation for his personal injury and damage to his bike.  Lynden was represented by personal injury solicitor Sarah Birch, a member of Leigh Day’s cycling and sports injuries claims team. 

Sarah also acted for British Cycling member, Chris Oakland, who has recovered compensation after a road traffic accident, which occurred on 3 June 2008, as he was cycling along Landsdowne Terrace, WC1. As Chris was travelling on his bicycle, he was struck from behind by a driver who later admitted liability. As a result of the impact, Chris sustained personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other consequential losses. He has now received compensation for his injuries.

British Cycling member, Andrew Jackson, has successfully recovered damages in relation to a road traffic collision, which happened on 27 October 2010, as he was cycling along Worsley Road, Eccles. As Andrew was travelling on his bicycle, a car driver pulled out of the junction to Worsley Road and collided with him. As a result of the impact, Andrew was thrown from his bicycle and sustained personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other consequential losses. Liability for the accident was admitted by the driver and Andrew received compensation for his personal injury and the damage to his bicycle. He was represented by Tamsin Keogh, personal injury solicitor in the cycling and sports injuries team and his claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
