Leigh Day & Co is pleased to have successfully concluded a claim on behalf of Mr Barnes who was injured in a road traffic crash on 2 January 2009. Mr Barnes was a passenger in a vehicle on the Westway, A40 when the driver of the vehicle crashed into a wall.  Despite wearing a seatbelt, Mr Barnes sustained head, neck and shoulder injuries. He was working at the time of the accident but due to his injuries and ongoing symptoms he felt unable to continue working after the crash.

Mr Barnes was assessed by a joint occupational health expert who recommended treatment and therapies in order to enable him to return to work and address his ongoing symptoms. Leigh Day & Co was able to successfully negotiate a settlement of £42,500 for Mr Barnes which he will use in obtaining future treatment.  He wishes to return to work in the future.

Zahra Nanji, a solicitor in Leigh Day & Co’s personal injury team commented:

“I am very pleased that the compensation received will allow Mr  Barnes to obtain recommended rehabilitation and treatment allowing him to restore his health and confidence and thereafter return to work."

Mr Barnes said:

”This was not a straightforward case and I was a far from easy client.  However, Zahra Nanji slowly and meticulously gained my confidence and trust.  At each stage she reassured me and allayed my anxieties.  After 18 months, we received an offer of settlement which exceeded both our expectations.
