A Leigh Day & Co client has recovered over £200,000 compensation in just over two months since first instructing partner,
Daniel Easton, to deal with his case. Our client was diagnosed with mesothelioma, the asbestos related lung cancer, in December 2008. He recalled being exposed to asbestos when carrying out tests to insulating materials for the Central Electricity Generating Board in the 1960’s at Portishead Power Station. He also visited asbestos factories up and down the country in the late 1960’s where he came into further contact with asbestos dust. He got in touch with Leigh Day & Co in January 2009, who took on his case and immediately got in touch with his former employers to bring his claim as quickly as possible. Following negotiations with the CEGB’s representatives, agreement was reached without the need for court proceedings.
Daniel Easton comments: "It is not possible to settle all cases in such a short time span but where the Defendants are co-operative, it allows us to press claims forwards as quickly as possible. Fortunately the Defendant took a pragmatic approach to the case which allowed us to settle it early. Most clients want their case over with as quickly as possible and with little as little fuss as possible and it is really gratifying to be able to achieve that.
