British Cycling member Darren Tiffen has successfully settled his claim for compensation following injuries he sustained in a road traffic collision in January 2008.

Darren was knocked off his bicycle by a car as he was cycling around a roundabout junction. The motorist’s insurers admitted liability for the collision and Darren received compensation for his injuries, pain and suffering, the damage to his bicycle, clothing and helmet and his loss of earnings.

Darren fractured his wrist but fortunately made a good recovery from his injuries and was back to competitive cycling after four months. He had to delay taking part in a local coaching course which he hopes to complete soon.

Darren was represented by Penny Knight, head of Leigh Day & Co’s cycling and sports injuries team. His claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
