In contrast to many law firms Leigh Day & Co is expanding with the promotion of three new partners and the recruitment of a discrimination specialist team to the human rights department.
Internal promotions

Chris specialises in equal pay and disability discrimination and is a member of the discrimination law team in the human rights department. Before joining the firm Chris was the senior legal officer at the Disability Rights Commission where for six years he dealt with some of the leading cases in the field of discrimination law including Nottingham County Council v Meikle where the Court of Appeal clarified a number of key provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act.
Penny joined Leigh Day in 2007 and is head of the cycling and sports injuries team, which acts for sportsmen and women including members of British Cycling and the British Triathlon Association. She has worked exclusively in the field of claimant personal injury law for 15 years acting for injured claimants in high value, complex claims including fatalities, head and spinal injuries. Penny is a member of the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel and a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers
Shubhaa specialises in international claims, group actions and product liability cases. She qualified as a Barrister in 1998 and practised in Malaysia as an Advocate and Solicitor until 2000.
