British Cycling member Derek Patterson has successfully recovered damages in relation to a hit and run incident which occurred on the 8th of June 2006 as he was cycling from Northwood to Rickmansworth along Green Lane. Derek was knocked from his bicycle by a motorist who failed to allow sufficient room when overtaking. The motorist failed to stop following the incident and the police were unable to trace the vehicle involved.
Liability for the accident was accepted by the Motor Insurers Bureau under the Untraced Driver’s Agreement. Derek received compensation for his injuries and consequential losses and expenses. Derek was represented by
Anna Hart in Leigh Day & Co’s Cycling and Sport Injuries Team. Derek’s claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
