British Cycling member compensated for accident in 2005

15 July 2008

British Cycling member, Stephen Cage, has recently recovered compensation following a road traffic collision in November 2005. Stephen was injured when he was cycling towards home and a vehicle turned right across his path causing Stephen to brake heavily to avoid a collision. Unfortunately there was another car behind also turning right immediately behind the first, which did not stop and Stephen could not avoid running into the nearside of that vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle admitted not seeking Stephen and his insurers accepted liability for the collision.

Stephen broke his right big toe and was unable to wear normal shoes for 2 months. He then had difficulty wearing his cycling shoes which prevented his return to cycling for a while. Stephen also suffered a soft tissue injury to his back and multiple bruises and grazing.

Stephen’s claim was handled by the cycling and sports injury team at Leigh Day & Co.
