BAE case reaches House of Lords

8 July 2008

In April 2008 the High Court formally quashed the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) decision to drop its corruption investigation into arms deals between BAE Systems and Saudi Arabia. This followed the Court's ruling on 10th April that the SFO, on government advice, acted unlawfully in stopping its investigation in December 2006 following a threat from Saudi Arabia.

Following this landmark victory in the Divisional Court in April, the government's appeal is being heard in the House of Lords yesterday and today. Leigh Day has instructed a starring team of barristers: David Pannick QC, Dinah Rose QC, Philippe Sands QC & Ben Jaffey. The hearing will finish today & judgment will be reserved.

The Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and The Corner House are represented by Leigh Day & Co. For more information please contact partner Richard Stein or solicitor Jamie Beagent on 020 7650 1200.
