Pothole cyclist receives award

10 January 2008

British Cycling member Anthony Peart has successfully concluded his claim for personal injury compensation and consequential losses arising from an incident which occurred on 25th February 2007 whilst he was cycling along Jenkins Lane in Buckinghamshire.

Anthony was thrown from his bike when his front wheel dropped down into a large pot hole which was obscured by rain water. His tyre burst and he lost control of the bike and was thrown into the carriageway. Thankfully he avoided serious injury, however, serious damage was sustained by his bicycle. Buckingham County Council accepted liability for Anthony's fall and damages were agreed between the parties. He received compensation for his injuries, property damage and other consequential losses and expenses.

Anthony was represented by Anna Hart in the cycling and sports injuries team at law firm Leigh Day & Co and his claim was funded and supported by British Cycling.
