Fatal collision after dangerous driving

4 December 2008

Former British Triathlon Federation member, Tony Colduck aged 61, was killed on 10 October 2006 by the reckless conduct of John Chamberlain and Robert Haynes who were racing each other on a narrow, winding country road where Tony was cycling home from work.

Chamberlain and Haynes were both convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and given custodial sentences.

Tony's wife Jean and daughters Maxine and Justine were and remain devastated by Tony's death.

Jean's claim for compensation following her husband's death has recently been concluded by BTF solicitors Leigh Day & Co. This coincided with the opening of a cycle path in Tony's memory on the campus of Keele University where he had worked for many years.

Following the settlement Justine Colduck said:

"Sally Moore and her team have just settled a financial claim for my mum following the death of my father, Anthony Colduck. He was killed as he cycled home from work in October 2006 in a collision involving two cars. Throughout the whole process Sally and her team were not only extremely professional but also very supportive and considerate in helping us through the emotional issues. They made a very difficult time a lot easier to cope with."
